Professor van der Berg is one of Europe's most distinguished veterinary internists and a global authority on feline medicine. She heads the Department of Clinical Sciences at Utrecht University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, one of the world's top veterinary schools. Her research on feline kidney disease has transformed treatment protocols worldwide, and she led the international consortium that developed the IRIS staging system for chronic kidney disease. She has authored over 150 publications and three textbooks, and serves as President of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
